TerraSys™ performs numerous types of modelling required by the different steps in an ecotoxicological risk assessment. These include:
- Modelling of ecotoxicological data that allows the definition of appropriate endpoints for the risk assessment. TerraSys™ allows the calculation of dose/response or concentration/response relationships, as well as the calculation of sensitivity distributions. These functions may be used directly by the analyst or automatically during the risk assessment.
- Geostatistical modelling designed to estimate the concentrations of the various soil contaminants from the sampled concentrations
- Modelling of multimedia concentrations designed to estimate the contaminant concentrations in each of the environmental media (abiotic elements and ecological receptors).
- Modelling of ecological receptor exposure to the various contaminants in all biotic and abiotic components of the ecosystem.
- The calculation of risk indices from the estimated doses or concentrations.
- The calculation of risk indices from the results of biotests performed on soil samples from the site under study.
- The integration of results of risk assessment from mathematical modelling and from biotests, taking into account the confidence level associated with each of these approaches.
