Sanexen identifies confinement measures to contain contaminant migration within property limits or to avoid sensitive receiving habitats. These measures may be combined with other environmental control and monitoring elements on a site. While in situ treatment is operating, such 'mitigation' measures are almost always required. Additionally, when impacts on groundwater have been associated with the contamination, a complete environmental monitoring program is generally necessary during and after remediation work.

The development of appropriate mitigation measures requires knowledge of the nature of the contaminants, their interactions and their evolution in the system, as well as expertise in applying the chosen treatment method based on concrete experience.
