Environmental characterisation of the Phase II type substantiates the presence or absence of contaminants associated with an element or activity at risk. The collection of samples according to established procedures and their analysis by certified laboratories provide the field data needed to define the zones affected and subsequently proceed to an estimation of remediation costs or to confirm that the site is free of contamination.

Sanexen also does building characterisation. This consists of an inventory of building contents, and sampling and analysis of all the areas likely to have been contaminated directly by processes, material or equipment or by dust from those sources.

Sanexen performs characterisation studies on a wide variety of substances and matrices such as :

  • soil;
  • water;
  • air;
  • wastes;
  • sludge;
  • sediments;
  • biogas;
  • material or equipment surfaces;
  • concrete;
  • dust;
  • asbestos;
  • lead (in paint);
  • PCBs (electrical equipment), etc.
